Big Life Living
Resources for your spiritual growth
Ozan Varol wrote, “Think Like a Rocket Scientist.” I liked the book so much that I subscribed to his email list. Here is what came today:
“Instead of chasing happiness, find and follow your north star. That’s the guiding light that determines all the choices you make in your life—what you reject and what you embrace. Your north star must be a principle that inspires you to act even if—and especially if—it generates pain in the short term.”
As it was meant to, it got me thinking that I needed to write down my north star. Here it is, “My north star is empowering Christian women to live full out with Christ.”
That might sound too general but in my mind, there are lots of specifics. Everything I write, teach, counsel, encourage (otherwise known as “discipleship”) has always been to remove obstacles to living a powerful, joyful, impactful life with Christ.
This is my true north, my guiding light, my reason to get up each day. It is my big WHY and the reason I walk the earth. It’s also amazing.
Sometimes I jump down in the pit and help a sister out of it. Sometimes I challenge paradigms that are holding them back. Often I hold up a mirror so they can see what Christ sees in them – they are beloved, chosen, delighted in and called to be more.
I’ve done my own internal work. I’ve rebuilt my identity to match what Christ says about me. I’ve discovered my competencies and done the work to get good at them. I have healthy attachments starting with Christ and with myself and then to those I do life with. And, finally, I know my eternal purpose and how to live it out today.
This means when I help others to fix their foundations, I know what I’m talking about and how to help them do it. Empowering them to live full out with Christ – that’s me. It is my north star and determines my daily choices.
What is yours? Seriously, if you haven’t thought about who you are and why then it might just be time to take a break and figure it out. When you do, let me know. I want to celebrate your WHY and encourage you in it.

✓they are truly healed, whole, and free of past, painful memories.
Every day I wake up so grateful and aware of His intimate presence in my life! Now I no longer feel I have to look over my shoulder & wonder if I'm "doing enough" or "being enough" to please Him. God gets all the praise and glory for the work He has done. It's amazing to live in Joy!

Your writing style, love for God, and knowledge truly sparked a part of me that had been running quite dry.
Just wanted to let you know how much you are appreciated and my prayers are with you.

I'm still stunned. Those memories that haunted me don't bother me at all now. Instead, when I do think about them, and it isn't often, I just feel the peace of Christ.
I am forever grateful for what Dr. West has done for me. I am healed and free!
