Erasing Women: A brilliant strategy
This morning I read an article that made me add this chapter to the book. The headline, "New Taliban Laws Turn Women Into 'Faceless Shadows': UN Human Rights Chief."
Let's walk through this article and add in what is happening here in the States.
After the US left Afghanistan, it left billions in armament and supplies that the Taliban quickly used to retake the country. They are now the governing authority of the country. I would say that satan now rules that country completely. We will get to that in a second.
"Last week, the Taliban banned women's voices and bare faces in public under new laws."
Think about this. Women are already forced to wear a burqa in public to cover their bodies, now not only is it illegal for any part of their face to be able to be seen, it is now illegal for their voice to be heard. And, they cannot go out of their homes without a man accompanying them.
They have effectively turned human beings into "faceless, voiceless shadows." This has been the evil one's strategy since the fall, and here we see the full offensive strategy played out.
In the US, somehow, a definition of a woman is no longer possible. When asked, "What is a woman?" many cannot give an answer. Why? To define a woman is to close the door to men being able to claim womanhood.
Women are being erased here but in a different way.
Trans "women" are insisting that they are indeed women and must be acknowledged as such. Because they are "women" they want to use the women's restrooms and locker rooms. They are pushing for, and winning in their bid to have laws in place that force us to call them women and use the pronouns that are associated with being a woman.
Men, "identifying as women," are taking over women's sports. Because their physiology is different than a woman's they are winning and taking from real women titles and scholarships for athletic achievement.
If anyone can be a woman then as this trend continues, there will be few, if any, real, biological women left in "women's" sports.
If anyone can be a woman then there are no women. It becomes an idea, a construct.
True women are being erased. Whether by silencing and covering up a woman or by denying biological women exclusivity to the title "woman" the enemy's tactic is working.
So, let's go back to the garden and see where this strategy against women started.
Right after the fall, God told Eve that He would "put enmity between you (the serpent) and the woman and between your seed (demonic) and her seed (the Savior).Genesis 3:15, emphasis mine
God tells the serpent that his destruction will come through the woman and this starts the enemy's hatred and opposition to women. He would do all that he could to keep the Messiah from coming and that meant that he would have to all that he could do to destroy the woman.
In "The Deception of Adam" I go into great detail about Adam and Eve and the fall so I won't do that here. I also document how the evil one was able to deceive and infiltrate society to join him in his hatred of women. Suffice it to say that the deception of the dragon has been ongoing since the garden.
Part of that strategy has been to erase women from daily life. To do so, he has deceived all into believing that women are less than men, barely human, the harbinger of evil, seductresses, less intelligent, unable, incompetent and to be kept out of sight. The strategy has worked brilliantly.
Women, who are equally intelligent and competent, have been kept out of the typical male arena until only the last century or so. They were also kept from God.
When God gave the template for building the temple, nowhere did He say to have women in a separate area so that they could not participate in worship and in hearing the message. Yet, even today, women are kept from the main area in Jewish congregations. Women were not only not taught His Word and ways but it was also be said to be shameful to do so.
If that idea to keep women from God didn't come from God it must have come through the evil one. Jesus let women sit at His feet to be taught. God didn't change His mind, He just showed His mind in allowing women equal right to learn with men.
In the 1 Timothy passage often used to keep women inferior, there is only one command in the passage. "Let a woman learn." This was new, revolutionary and a change in direction from the segregation and deliberately instituted ignorance of women.
In the garden, God brought Eve to Adam for God said that Adam needed help to do the work of living for and serving God. He didn't bring a maid. He brought a counterpart to provide help in the same way that God says that He helps us. It is even the same word He uses for His help to us.
Now, if it takes man and women to serve God and follow His will then taking one of them out of the picture would hamper that serving wouldn't it? And, if through one of them would come your destruction, isn't it a good idea to make her invisible and impotent?
That, in a nutshell, is exactly what has happened.
Follow how women have been treated since the garden and you will see the full strategy played out. Now, Jesus comes and basically ignores the adopted status quo of treating women as less than fully human. The Holy Spirit comes and women are filled in the same way as men.
If you are the evil one, you see that your first strategy to erase women hasn't actually worked. The Messiah did come through her. He did defeat you and you have a limited time left on the earth to steal, kill and destroy. But, your original strategy was effective at dividing God's people and wreaking havoc. If you reinstitute the same strategy you might be able to slow down this new church thing and delay your ultimate destruction.
And, that is exactly what happened. Women were at first a part of the Great Commission, preaching and teaching the good news all over the world. Then, they were separated out in the same way satan had separated them out in the temple. In the church they would be kept to the side, powerless, ineffective, told that they were not needed or wanted even by God.
Society was also involved in keeping women uneducated, without financial resources and made to believe that they were unequal with men. And erasing women is still happening whether in turning women into shadows or declaring that all it takes to be a woman is a dress, make up and an insistence that one is a woman.
Restoring the Heart, Restoring a Woman’s Identity
The battle over womanhood is not just cultural or political. At its core, it is spiritual.
From the beginning, the enemy has tried to silence, diminish, and erase women because God designed women to carry life, nurture faith, and partner with Him in His work on the earth. When a woman understands who she truly is in God, she becomes a powerful force for His Kingdom.
That is why healing the heart matters.
So many women carry wounds from lies they have been told about their worth, their voice, and their place in the world. Those lies often become barriers that keep them from fully stepping into the life God designed for them.
